What I’ve learned is that most dogs really like attention so if you can, you can speak to them with a higher pitch voice, caress/ pet them often, but at the same time try to limit their misbehavior whatever you deem that may be. Just show them that you are willing to be caring of them and they’ll love you and eventually get attached. This is for most dogs, it may be different for some.

Pets always like me. It’s more of an intentional thing. They are obviously much more primal than us. So they act on mostly intention. If they sense good intention in you they will be good to you. I think you can’t really fake that. It’s body language. Tone of Voice and much more.
