Upper Pallete Horizontal Extension: Can this ruin hollow cheeks?

My ortho told me on top of bimax I would need my upper pallete surgically widened to fix crowding/bite issues. Can this add mass to the area between cheeks and mandible which will potentially lessen the hollowness of my cheeks when lean? Does anyone have examples?
