US college students who finesse financial aid?

I am a United States college student. I don't know if this is in other countries but there is FAFSA here. Basically you submit your tax documents and after they are looked over and analyzed and you are given financial aid. My family probably makes close to 100-150k per year. I have friends whose families make similar amounts and they literally get paid to go to college. The fafsa covers their tuition and leaves like 3-4k leftover which gets direct deposited into their accounts. However I get no financial aid and have to pay tuition fully out of pocket. My friend parents are literally buying new house and they even bought my friend 2 cars just for him, and still are getting financial aid. My other friend, who is basically a hypebeast with a rich family also gets paid to go to college.

How are they doing this? What can I do to replicate this?
