In the UK we mostly use feet and inches for height but cm for everything else

Way smaller than and inch it's much harder to find out a height with that. It's much more understandable to say 5'8 instead of 173cm because that's just 1foot times 5 + 8 inches

The reason it's easier for them is because that's all that's been taught. If someone's first language is Chinese and they start to learn English it's gonna be harder for them to speak English because that's all they've ever been taught but realistically Chinese is a much more complex language than English
