Adore the emeralds fore itselves color. Nonetheless, diamens iz the Most Durable.

What's yer sigmachur? Emerald ore dieman? 🤔
Of course it’s emerald, it’s even in my name. Nothing compares to the color green.

Also diamonds aren’t actually rare. Their value is mostly manufactured through marketing and tight control over supply. There are tons of them out there. What makes them seem rare is artificial scarcity.

For decades, companies like De Beers would stockpile diamonds and slowly release just enough to keep prices high. They also made diamonds tied to marriage, it was literally an ad campaign from 1947. And it worked. Today, over 80% of engagement rings have diamonds. But before the 1930s, that wasn’t the norm at all.

Now we can grow diamonds in labs that are physically and chemically identical to mined ones. But the industry has pushed the idea that only "natural" diamonds are the real deal, that’s just branding. De Beers even started selling lab grown diamonds themselves, just cheaper, to keep them in a separate category.

At the end of the day, diamonds are a Veblen good, meaning their appeal goes up with the price. People want them not because they’re worth that much, but because they seem exclusive. It's all a status game.
