They are actually much deeper than western religions and I say this as Christian. You're mistaking the watered down hippie version for the actual practice. Western faith like Christianity usually focuses on following a creed or receiving grace, Eastern traditions require years of mental discipline and meditation. They also explore many abstract concepts in novel ways, like said it's a rabbit hole
