Basically in the Victorian era many famous painters redrew historic figures and made subtle changes to every painting to make them more attractive because European monarchs were all pasty and ugly by Victorian standards. This was recently revealed after the painting went under a x-ray to reveal the changes made.
Painting of Isabella de' Medici. Left is the ones Victorian painters repainted and the right the original. Under eye bags, hooked nose, giant forehead and inbred skull all gone
They gave Lady Diana Cecil a lip filler
Queen Elizabeth 1
