Went to a dermatologist this past week to ask what I can get done for acne scarring specifically. The derm said she recommends microneedling with PRP, and they recommend 4 sessions of it. I asked about any other procedures she would recommend since she said that I could do a laser but she said she recommended's I do the microneedling with PRP rather than a laser. The thing is that at that dermatologist, the only procedure they offer in this office is the microneedling with PRP. Any other laser or procedure would be with another office (same dermatologist) out of town for me.

I genuinely don’t know if she was just trying to sell me something or really giving me the best advice. The esthetician who performs the microneedling then came in to talk to me about the procedure, and she had acne scars herself, which kind of gave me a bad impression. Like, why would I get this done when she herself has acne scars? She said that she has only gotten RF microneedling done, but not microneedling with PRP. She also told me that laser was more for wrinkles and hyperpigmentation rather than acne scars, which I thought was weird.

Anyone who has done microneedling with PRP, how great were your results? My scars aren’t super bad, but they are primarily ice-pick scarring. I can upload pics if anyone asks, but I just want to improve the look of the scars. I don’t care about fully erasing them (that would be ideal, of course), but I just want procedures that will actually improve the appearance of my scars and give me a good ROI. I’m debating on scheduling an appointment, which they were already trying to schedule for me, but I had to tell them I need some time to think about it first. I finally have the money to do procedures for acne scars so I would appreciate anyones help.

I would do microneedling at home always, if you're getting it done that is. It's significantly cheaper and you can do it more frequently

Is it really that effective for acne scars though, I honeslty wouldn't feel comfortable doing it myself at home as I wouldn't want to do anything wrong and mess up, plus I wouldn't be able to do PRP. Do you think if I did microneedling with prp at that office for example, that I would see great results? or do you think it would be better to invest in another procedure.

It's pretty effective, takes a while though.
If money wasn't an issue, i would do CO2 laser procedures, those have hard recovery tho but they mog.
In terms of doing microneedling at home, it's really easy, way simpler than you'd think. Buy the derminator 2, get lidocaine and alcohol for sterilizing. Very hard to mess up, people do it all the time, mostly normie milf women actually.
