I like vodka too, even drinking it neat just for the taste if it is a good one with some character(can vary from batch to batch of same brand). Nice for mixing with soda, lemonade, tons of other stuff.. very versatile. Not as calories rich as beer either for ex per unit of alcohol(less liable to make you fat).

Depends on vodka, some have flavour, but the overdistilled stuff has no taste, yeah, I don't like those either. Russian vodkas were among the best but they are banned now so... :/

And yeah I LOVE dark rum too, that shit can be delicious to just sip on.
