I own two headsets. I have the first generation oculus (rift cv1), which at the time I found to be an incredible letdown. Supbar resolution (2160×1200, not even 4k), barely any conent for it. Back in 2016 one simply thought that VR was a poor attempt at making a revolutionary product with no future.
Looking now, we have all these new gen kits like HTC, Meta Quest 2, Valve Index etc and holy shit. Can easily go above 8k (at which shit looks VERY realistic) and there is endless amount of content for it, whether if its games, movies, porn whatever you can think of. Immersion is there, interactive stuff exist.
In a way its cool, you can take your copes to the next level. I was a flightsimcel with a flight stick (HOTAS) and two rudder pedals attached to my PC, handicapped by my small chinese monitor. Now I can pretty much fly a plane inside a 8K 360 degree cockpit and use my hands (controllers) to press buttons inside which makes it cool. Most VR games are actually vastly superior to regular games.
Porn is the same, I hate porn, you please yourself to another male actor fucking another women, but VRporn this is no longer the case, its a huge can of worms tbh, because once you grasp the concepts of deepfake and overall videorendering you can pretty much paste the face of ANYONE you want onto any video you want and make her suck you off in VR with crisp visuals. (dangerous)
but, with tech going forward, I feel like these glasses will simply turn us into slaves. Overloaded pleasure from mainstream media, and now since it can mimic reality, why should you travel? why should you drive a car, fly a plane, or go somewhere when you can do it at home? you will live in the pod with your new Meta 7 glasses.
