Im done fucking coping, this shit is my last chance to look human. I dont want to waste the rest of my life living as a recessed short faced subhuman. I need to fucking do something about it. I know all this deep down, but the thought of jaw surgery is terrifying to me. It sounds like weeks of living hell and agony. But I could finally be treated normally if I went through with it. Has anyone else struggled with this and went through it? If you got this procedure please hit me up cause I got hella questions

Ikr it has to be fucking bad if its well known the #1 guaranteed way to ascend the #1 most common failo, yet almost no one here actually gets it even recessed people who could qualify with insurance

Nah youd be surprised
I was a little, you don't have medical SFS but you could definitely benefit from bimax. Me personally, I'll probably get BSSO or genio.

I wish off topic would be more deep and philosophical

It was invaded by under 18s who won't even lose weight, let alone contemplate serious surgeries.
Even the BOTB threads from back in the day are mediocre and could be improved on significantly.

I havent done it but I guess the options are either staying ugly for the rest of your life or endure pain for what? Couple of months?

If you are young you can try other stuff first

Did you see my thread? What is it that you want to know?

Ask away.

If it's the recovery that bothers you, don't be. It's more of an inconvenience than pain. You are more likely to die in the car ride to get the surgery than the surgery.

BTW spoiler alert: if you think bimax or any surgery is this path to enlightenment, I got some very bad news.

That pisses me off as well. People leech off advice and demand other people post pics, but when it's their turn, crickets.

I have an immense amount of respect for people that post even if the surgery didn't go as planned. There was a user who got an infection after infras; he made a full thread documenting it and I have the utmost respect for him.

Your before reminds me a lot of myself can I send you my side?

Would you consider yourself a short face cel before you got the surgery?

What compelled you to actually go through with it and not pussy out/cope like a lot of people here do?

Silly question, did you throw up a lot of blood during recovery?

Did insurance cover it? How much did it cost you? Did you go to a specific MF surgeon or just a local one

Does this mean I need more after the bimax?

No, it's the contrary.

If you think bimax or any surgery will miraculously fix your life because you have nothing else going on, it won't.

Surgeries are to compliment what you have going on, not to pave a path for a new life.

You don't need surgery to have friends, go out, get a job etc.

JFL if you are terrified from recovery, it's pretty much the same with dealing with broken jaw. Just drink from a tube for couple weeks, and have some mild pain JFL.

The main problem is getting money for it(20k usd and that's pretty cheap for it) and finding time to do it(since you will have to leave your job for atleast half a month).

Sure. However keep in mind that morphs should be taken with a grain of salt, soft tissue doesn't always move like you want.

Would you consider yourself a short face cel before you got the surgery?

Yep I most certainly would say so. Advancing the jaws + a vertical genio definitely made my lower third more proportional.

What compelled you to actually go through with it and not pussy out/cope like a lot of people here do?

Exact same reason as you. I would always try to hide and run away. The most confident I've been was during the Covid era with masks on. I would deny requests to go dine with friends, because I didn't want to be in a candid looking like this

Cxn41597bna91

This behavior is not normal. All this did was put me further and further behind in all aspects of life.

I see plenty of recessed students in my classes, but for some reason, they did not seem to care. I didn't understand why. They had something I didn't. I couldn't focus on the lessons at at all, but be in thought about my shit jaw.

My jaw was my excuse, but now that excuse is no more. Now I'm behind with nothing to show for.

Silly question, did you throw up a lot of blood during recovery?

No. There were blood clumps in my nose, where I had to use a steroid nasal spray to clear. You can't blow your nose for 4 weeks, so you have to use a nasal spray.

Week 1 was the roughest, things are much better now.

Did insurance cover it? How much did it cost you? Did you go to a specific MF surgeon or just a local one

No insurance. The Canadian government covers hospital fees, so I only had to pay the surgeon and the orthodontist.

The surgeon was a local one. Btw I had an absolutely dogshit experience with my first one, so read about it here

The surgeon was 10k and the ortho was 10k. One thing people don't account for are the ortho fees.

If you have anything else, feel free to ask. I might actually make a new thread for questions.

Damn, the covid part hit home bro

I was a freshman and we were wearing masks and it was insane how my "friends" treated me when I took off my mask to eat. I still have trouble eating in front of people cuz it forces me to bite down. Makes me look more like an animal than a human.

I relate heavy with everything you said fr, so do you feel kinda "empty" now that you fixed your biggest "problem" but there was no epiphany? Now you just cant help but think about all the wasted time you had to spend being affected mentally by your jaw?

Did you get a drowning/feeling that you cant breathe? I hear that alot when I read about people getting lefort. Overall did your experience surprise you or was it consistent with other experiences you read about?

And did you go to an ortho for braces to decompensate your bite before the surgery, or something else?

was mostly kidding but i really need more opinions fast on whether i need bimax since my parents are now taking me seriously (theyve gotten a surgery credit card and weve scheduled consults to the dr and ortho about various sleep apnea, tmj, and lip incompetence issues). could i send you some pics and could you lmk if my expectations are too high?

functionally speaking i very likely do need it, but i cant help myself from thinking this could be the one to ascend me. im seriously having ideas of getting with my oneitis after (what would be) a year or two of plotting. getting ahead of myself and shit :lul::lul: thinking about the excuses ill tell people when they ask how i ascended... just doing too much tbh

That's definitely some form of a short face with a deep bite problem.

Yep, it's not happiness but regret. Like you don't need to have a normal face to enjoy those things, unlike needing functional legs to drive.

Did you get a drowning/feeling that you cant breathe? I hear that alot when I read about people getting lefort. Overall did your experience surprise you or was it consistent with other experiences you read about?

The opposite actually.

Turns out I had a deviated septum that was corrected during the lefort, and the first thing I noticed was how much I could breathe from my left nostril as it was clogged before.

That was the first thing I noticed when I woke up.

And did you go to an ortho for braces to decompensate your bite before the surgery, or something else?

Yep, ortho is mandatory and the surgeon wouldn't even book an appointment without a referral from the ortho.

You can do both braces or invisalign; it's your choice.

The ortho is responsible for creating the space a surgeon can move, so choose wisely. I see stories on reddit where dumbass orthos do retarded tooth movements that hinder jaw movements.

I cannot stress this enough, you might not always be able to move the jaws as you'd like as your teeth are the bottleneck. Your soft tissue might not move as nicely or seamlessly as you'd hope. Your chin might droop weirdly, your left side might look asymmetrical etc.

It's not always predictable. As long as you are content with the big picture and not the details, you'll be fine.

What other stuff would you recommend, im 17 years old around 16% bf maybe currently cutting down to 9%, anything else I can do?
Im not experienced in hardnaxxing but most people suggest orthodontic treatment or pseudoscience like thumbpulling to widen the palate, which can influence your face a lot. For most people widening the palate can give a better WHFR, better zygos, a wider mandible (altough ive read that in some adults widening the palate doesnt seem to influence the mandible), better under eye support and forward growth.
The biggest promoters of thumbpulling and similar methods are Jordan Wood (you are around his age when he started doing it), cranium autist and Oscar Patel (which most people on here hate and call cope tho).
If you want to try thumbpulling, pre maxilla pushing, towel pulling, etc (which most people here call cope, but ive also seens a lot of people who say it works) its your choice and you are at a good age to start doing it.
16%bf is good, get even lower if you can.
Idk what hardmaxxes i could suggest you, i would need to see a pic first

I had bimax + genioplasty to fix SFS, in total around 1.2 cm vertical height increase, roughly half of that was jaw and the other half was chin. From the front view the chin got 1.2 cm taller, mid-mandible around half of that.

In general I think the trickiest part of fixing SFS is finding a surgeon that is comfortable with making large downgrafts of the maxilla and filling the created gap with bone grafts.
Usually in majority of bimax cases the gap created by Le Fort I is very small vertically (as they usually just move the maxilla forward and maybe rotate it a bit) so the bone can fuse easily, however with movements like 5-6 mm vertical pull you cannot leave the gap open as it's too big and the bone might not fuse, then over time you might develop non-union.

SFS is quite rare + majority of people that have it don't even know about bimax, and my assumption is that there's not a lot of surgeons that perform such huge downgrafts of maxilla on a regular basis, simply because there's not much demand for it.

When I was looking for surgeons I basically searched for ones that have reputation of the best aesthetic eye and consulted with them only (popular names on this forum), though I'm curious if regular unknown local-town surgeons would be comfortable doing a 6mm downgraft of jaw and then additional 6mm in chin. At that time I knew that I wouldn't be comfortable with them doing the surgery if they didn't have substantial experience with fixing SFS.

I don't remember if I heard that from the surgeon or read it somewhere but allegedly 6~ mm downgraft (separately for maxilla) is close to the maximum you can get, otherwise there's some risks in the maxilla and also the step offs might look weird in the mandible.

And speaking from my experience + from what I've read, the bimax recovery is a coin toss but generally if you're a male in your 20s and don't have any illnesses or issues with your joints, then it's more a matter of discomfort (swelling, drooling) than pain.

Also one thing: if you ever consult a surgeon, make sure that they know what to do to fix the lip incompetence that could result from large downgrafts. From what I remember it was some special kind of stitch in the lower lip so that the lip ends up pulled upwards.
