He was middle eastern and so he certainly was tan and dark haired. Even then, some people could still consider him white.
Some only consider nordics white, some stretch that to Southern Europeans and Slavs… while others include Turks and Mediterraneans as whites too, depends who you ask.

He was an internationally prominent figure at the time,
and lots of different m people wrote about him. He isn’t some made up character that only showed up on one book. There’s overwhelming evidence that he existed.
You can’t deny that. Just like you can’t deny that Buddha existed because you aren’t Buddhist or that the prophet Muhamed existed because you don’t believe in Islam. They were all historical figures who had a following in real life and left behind a legac
