Humans still get some hydration from water, and it's better to drink water than get dehydrated. Also humans have been making vessels to store water basically forever. Even remaining hunter gatherers in africa and the arctic drink water, just a lot less than we do due to their hydrating diet.

Animal products are the ideal source of hydration also. Fruit juices (excluding stuff like coconut) are way too high in sugar, and modern fruits are bred to be massive in size, you couldn't really hydrate from natural berries. Milk is fine but has a lot of sugar. It shouldn't be your go to hydration source since it will coat your teeth.
