so I’m sure many of you guys are aware through anecdotes that you all feel quite lonely, and yet you dislike people so much you wish you were alone,
What can we chalk this logical contradiction up to?
Simply put, the people we dislike are those we see in reality, with their realistic and undesirable personalities, ridiculing and mocking those beneath them or even above them to cope, this is very obviously an unideal person to interact with, likely spreading/giving your secrets away that you trust them with, making fun of you behind your back etc etc.
These guys/gals cause our disdain towards most normal people, we dislike how they operate and what their friendships are built off of, (also, side note: but another thing is most friendships don’t exist outside of where they are created ie work school or video games.)
So now we know why we feel like we don’t want to be around those people, we generalise them to be most people as we notice them a lot more than positive traits (scientifically proven) and as such we just dislike the general population.
Why do we hate loneliness?
Simple once again, biology. Our biology makes us feel anxious and upset, at our lack of surrounding humans whether family or friends or even just people in general. We hate it due to “strength in numbers” and our body realises we are unsafe, so it urges us to find friends or people to help us stay alive, our primate instincts are still within our minds even this long into modern society. We also desire a partner quite heavily as we know we’d be closest to them, be able to have sex with them, and they’d comfort us. As such they seem like the most ideal person to answer our loneliness and we start worshipping this fictional person, even though they aren’t real.
