Yes, Dardic falls under Indic, technically speaking. That is indeed correct. I remember arguing with an Iranic ethno-supremacist a few days ago on Twitter. He claimed Dardic had nothing to do with Indo Aryan/Indic like the moron he was.

Look at it this way. We say Punjabi is Indic, but we don’t claim they are Indo-Iranian, even though it falls under that category. To be more precise and accurate, we say they Indic.

Kashmiris (ethnic Kashmiris who live in the Kashmir valley, whom are different from Pandits from Jammu) do not identify as Indic, but rather Dardic. They do not consider themselves desi due to its association with Indic peoples.

Pandits however do consider themselves as desis because they speak Pahari, an Indic language. I myself have roots from Jammu as well. But I won’t claim a Dardic background because we are Indic.

All these things aside, I understand where you are coming from but some ethnic groups who do not fall under Indic claim it’s another term for Indic, even though the word has no racial basis.
