I almost killed a person when I was about 13 years old. It was both intentional and "accidentaI" sorta, as in my goal wasnt to kill him. I was doing competitive canoeing(this is before i got fat) in narrow boats.

The river we were training on had a "backwater" few miles long elongated part, which was pretty abadoned of any humane life-form. We would have 10-15 people doing training with exactly 1 coach following us in a motor-boat. That day our path was among that abadoned backwater path.

Me and this other guy got left off the pack bcuz we were both daydreaming/dicking around so the coach with motor boat just went ahead to the rest of 8-10 people and wouldnt have us in seeing distance(He would usually be behind the last person). He did this bcuz we did this path a lot of times before and he just assumed there arent going to be problems. He also never came back to check on us and stayed with rest of pack.

It was autumn and the water would be really cold, almost near freezing level. The backwater part of main river would look like this

So me and this other guy got left off the pack, we were traversing in the middle of river relatively close to eachother, in talking distance. We were chatting and he annoyed me the fuck out at one point. I don't know what got into me, but I turned my boat and full on crashed onto his boat. He would fall into freezing water and he got in shock. He started screaming trying to hold onto his boat asking me for help, but I was just sitting there in my boat for like a minute straight. I didn't "not" want to help him, but I didn't know how to help him without getting myself in freezing water. So I sat there in my boat watching him fight for his life trying to get himself with help of holding onto boat till he makes it to shore of the river. The problem was the boat was turned upside down so it started filling up with water and he didnt have power to turn it around considering the amount of water it had inside already. So at one point he had to let the boat drown (and the paddle) and just try to make it to shore which he managed to do. The water was freezing cold, the temperature was around 7 celsius and he was all wet lying in the mud on the shore catching for breath. Then he started cursing at me saying things like he will kill me and I will pay for this etc while I was still sitting in my boat. We were about 3 miles away from life-form or any help etc. His boat was drowned, he was freezing to death and when he started cursing me I just left. I started paddling probably harder than I have ever before and made it back to base within 20 minutes.

I reached the pier, got out of beat, grabbed my boat and paddle, i rushed to boat dock, put it back, went to locker room, didnt talk to anyone, got all my clothes and rushed the fuck home. This was the last time I attended there. The guy made it back in the end, there were some ambulances too apparently (i wasnt there by then). The guy didn't end up pressing charges or anything, which I still dont understand to this day tbh
