Your right - these studys are partly talking about the 28 other teeth, not exactly wisdom teeth.

If you remove your normal teeth, so for example the 2nd molar or premolar you will get bone loss.
Because you can't build enough stimulation to the jawbone if you get one of your 28 teeth removed.

If you get your third molar removed (wisdom teeth) and still have your dentition remains otherwise complete, the regular forces exerted during chewing and other oral activiities wilkl continue to stimulate the jawbone.

But (as i already said above) if you get one of your 28 other teeth removed, you can't build this stimulation anymore, thats why bone loss occurs.

You need to remove wisdom teeth if they are impacted, keeping wisdom teeth that don't have enough room will cause bone resorption.
