It appears that the age of the parents may be at least an equal factor in the appearance of the offspring.

Do you take two 8/10 50 year olds or do you take two 5/10 20 year olds?

This may be part of the answer of the 'two ugly parents' trope.

A 5/10 Becky who has 4 kids by the time she is 20 may produce superior offspring to that of a worn-out former beauty pageant winner and her roidmaxxed Chad.

The actual genetic material in their sperm/eggs shouldn’t really change with age, it’s only the chance of a successful pregnancy and birth that changes. For example my mum had my sister at 35 and me at 29, however she miscarried 3 times prior to having my sister and gave birth to me easily, despite this my sister is much better looking than me and lives a far better QoL

There are all sort of correlations of bad health-looks-brain, and old age of parents, specially the mother. There is a reason men want their women under 25. Old women should be euthanased once they have stopped rearing the children.
