Weird Camera Distortion

Going through old photos, I noticed something weird. Despite my naturally wide face and big head, some childhood pics make it look weirdly narrow. In one photo with a friend as kids, my face seemed narrower than hers, even though it's wider. It also gave the impression of a negative canthal tilt, though eyes don't change. Most of my kid pics show a narrow face and sometimes a negative canthal tilt. Isn't your face shape supposed to stay the same? It's pretty weird.
