Weird people talking to my dog

Alright so idk why people do this, it seems very non-NT even to me, but its always soo awkward.


I walk my dog and all, and people just stop, make their "looking at something cute" voice and start talking:



"AWWWWWW OHHHH HEEE ISSS SOOO CUUUTEEE... HOW OLD ARE YOU LITTLE GUY???"


I figured the best strategy in this situation is to just stand and wait for them to go away. I found this the hard way.


Before, I'd try to answer them:


"8 years old".


It always seemed as if was pretending to be my dog so I'd cringe and walk away every time
