Were Indians always percieved as goofy in the west?

From what I remember Indians weren't seen as unattractive creeps 10 or more years ago and their infamy began only recently.

they were always unattractive, but they were perceived as creeps because they started becoming more desperate and thirsty for "bobs and vegana". especially after he rise of easily accessible technology it was bound to occur.
