Were the games in Squid games truly fair?

Everyone is equal when they play the game, they all got the exact same conditions, and thus to a degree there is equality.

They also suffered out in the real world, which made them want to join the games in the first place, giving them another chance.

You just described why it’s fair, most games also don’t require much physical strength or insane athleticism so it’s equal in terms of gender and different body compositions too in a way. It really just comes down to who’s the smartest and most low inhib, that’s why the Machiavellian chad friend of gi hun made it so far, that guy didn’t give af about anyone but himself and was smart

The amount they suffered wasn’t equal, some needed the money because they are being hunted by a gang that will kill them
Whereas others wanted money because of their own greed
Others needed it because their children will die if they don’t get surgery for them

They might be equal when playing the game, but the events leading up to them weren’t equal..
And whether they are truly equal playing the game too is up for debate.

The old people won’t have the same mental capacity as the younger. Nor will they have the precise motor skills say for cutting out the shape in biscuit
Somebody who is born with higher IQ genes would perhaps find a higher likelihood for success with their choice in the marbles game. Or naturally good conversational skills would steer the other person to your true desired game of choice, without them knowing

And then excluding predetermined advantages, would be learned life experiences.. such as whether people were physically active prior to entering for tug of war. How were they physically active (some might be gang members, other would’ve been too poor to afford gym memberships)… or the Gonggi game, which they played as kids. What if one of them suffered more, and was bullied as a kid, so they never got to experience a good childhood, resulting in not being able to do that task

Truth is, there had to be skill involved or else it’ll just be a game of pure luck. And the skill is derived from differences in capabilities between each other, part of which is due to experiences and the other part
None of it was truly fair.. because everything is influenced by other things. Your entire life has already been written

People think they have full reign within these bounds, but the bounds are much tighter than you think. You can’t do anything really, because even me talking is the exact result of everything leading up to this point
Your death was written at your first breath

On surface level though, it was fairer than a lot of current things in life
