To be fair, the first one is probably the closest to my natural skin colour, since it was taken in natural light away from a bright room.

I tan really well, and rarely to almost never peel, and only burn occasionally (it doesn't even feel painful, just warm).

Don't worry. I don't like tanning as I'm worried about the implications of skin cancer and sun damage, so I try to avoid it. That tan only happened after spending one week in the south of Europe (and it looked so odd on me)!

Yes, just like the white kids back then, even if they told me in front of my face that they "envied my tan" despite not going on holiday at all. I used to think, especially for a guy with blue eyes, that I was a genetic mutant, since anyone darker than me all had brown eyes and dark brown or black hair.
