Its Thursday, so lets reflect on the positive.
There is a lot of negativity on this site, so I thought that I would make a positive post to spread positivity.

1. I insulted a disgusting landwhale at the office again. She told another landwhale "Im tired of walking around so much around the office for this new role." I said "at least you guys are getting exercise." and laughed in a friendly way :lul: (as to not get in trouble) :feelshmm: I saw her a few minutes later and she looked very sad and was looking down at her tummy in insecurity.

2. Finished up important work for my boss. I work in finance btw.

3. Studies for my CPA and made a time to take the cpa exam . :bigbrain:

You guys?

What about you?
I used becker, just spam test bank questions is the move.

I'm already licensed.

Nice!

You work for a CPA firm or industry?
Industry, for the most part my experience has been w/ nonpublic mid sized companies. I feel like, midsize is the best mix of promotion pathways, while giving some specialization but not too much to where you are pigeon holed.

Luckily my work has mostly been in more high risk risk areas, mostly around revenue recognition. Typically that's very in demand.

Yeah generally but not always gov accounting is very different due to all the fund nonsense they do.

That said I don't think it'll be hard for you to hard pivot to industry at a reasonable sized companies. Generally there are not enough accounts and so even at midsized companies, if you have 20-30 people department 10-20% won't have accounting backgrounds, or otherwise somehow be inadequate exp for their role. CPAs are very rare, in my experience their might be 0-3 in a department that size. That includes managers and controllers. I've never know a staff or senior accountant to have a CPA, though I'm sure it happens.

Thanks bro.

Im having a very hard time getting an industry job right now. They see my government experience and in many cases, don't bother. Even though I have degrees in accounting and finance.

Hopefully I can pass 2 sections of the CPA by the end of this year and move into industry.

Yeah there's very little interest from college students these days to go into the field. At the same time the CPA licenses is very difficult to get, so once you have it, it provides a huge moat. Also has protection from AI, since their are regulatory req where you need CPAs to do xyz.
