It's better to be brutally rejected without anyone knowing than to, for example, get politely rejected in a workplace and have everyone know and be completely cooked and shut from future options in that particular social circle.

The brutality of rejection is more reflected on consequences that you end up with in some social circle than in the way that foid rejects you, in my humble gentleman's opinion.
