What are the goals of looksmaxxing?

I think this question is controversial, because many who improve themselves externally want to achieve the result that would give them the opportunity to get something they want. Someone was so offended by everyone in childhood because he was not respected for his appearance and after improving himself/after surgery, someone has sex with all the girls he likes to satisfy his own. And also someone improves his appearance to increase his chances of finding a girlfriend and continuing the family line.

From what I can tell the common denominator of it all is just to look better for social success or ego. Most people on this forum have some version of at least one of those goals
