Because America is stupid. All over the world, the age of consent is lower than this, it's 18 only in some US states and in backward countries like Egypt, Sudan, Iraq, Haiti, Kazakhstan, etc.
BTW, in many US states the age of consent is 16 or 17, but in California and New York is 18, and since most American movies are made there, you get the impression that the age of consent is 18 all over US, you almost never see in a Hollywood movie a 16-17-year-old girl having consensual sex or in a relationship with a guy older than her, if it happens it's always because of rape, abuse, etc.

Yeah , I think the current age is quite unfair for males. As soon as girls turn 18 , they'll have fully mastered all the skills needed to attract the opposite sex : how to dress , make-up , communication social skills

The 18 yo average males are awkward af compared to their female counterparts. They also have to compete against 20,30 or even 40+ yo guys.
