it doesnt exist and the whole concept is wrong imo, its meaningless to discuss but it should make someone have more empathy for others in thought level atleast

control doesnt exist, but beings suffer. make what conclusion u want out of this

Free will exists but so does karma.

You are free to do whatever you want in this life but you also have to face the consequences, either in this life or the next.

You were born as a poor, ugly incel because you did many horrible things in the past life. But if you do good deeds in this life, you will be reborn as a rich Chad in the next re-incarnation.

And do you have proof this so called "karma" is real and not some superstition created by retarded old men?

Free will exists. It's literally just the name given to the human decision making process. It's the people who define it in some weird magic way and then proclaim that it doesn't exist who are wrong. But they act like it's the compatibilists who are defining it in an unnatural way. It's not. Now "libertarian free will?" I don't even know what that's supposed to mean. (I mean I do, it's just incoherent.)

But, like, let's say the world wasn't deterministic and you had magical libertarian free will. What would you do differently? How would your decisions be made? Nothing would be different and decisions would be the same? 🤔

Karma is luck and misfortune, which is totally controlled by the Gods. You cannot see the Gods, you cannot hear the Gods, you cannot touch the Gods. You can either feel them or not. It depends on your spiritual luck. You may never have that feeling until you die, but the Gods are always there and they created and control the universes.

Before you were born, you died. Maybe as an old person, or young, or in between. It went dark and ZAP, disconnec. In the beyond you probably saw some strange things, being a ghost, but then a human couple started to attract you. Maybe you even knew them or they are just total strangers to you. And then they had sex, and a cosmic force pulled your soul into the womb. And then baby again.

All the shit that happened since then is the result of the karma you created with your actions in your past life. You are poor now? You had money in your last life, but you've been greedy and selfish. You look bad now? You've been disloyal in your last life and lied to the people. You have no luck with love and sex? You had it in your last life, but you used others for your pleasure, maybe even abused them. Everything comes back. That's the course of Free Will and Karma.

You're a human? Well done. You must have done some things right, otherwise you would be a rat now. You don't live as a malnourished ugly incel? Seems you haven't been a total egoist in your last life.

So in this life, the better your actions are, the better your next life will be. You want to be beautiful, healthy and rich? Ok, be nice, helpful, honest, fair, loyal, decent etc.

what does this free will even mean? like when i take a shit how would it be different if i had/didn't have free will? Whether it was because i just decided to go to the bathroom or it was because of the law of laplace/evolution/physics/whatever

if it can't be tested/validated and there aren't any differences this is stupid/sophistry and only for the pscyhologists/sociologists office to learn the hidden motives of incels from their thoughts on this

It’s like duality, half of it falls into your choice and the other half is what you’re dealt
Really though it’s harder to break what’s set for you than to go along with it

i believe we are just our senses that are receivers of experiences and those experiences are completely based on luck. completely predetermined or with momentary luck involved, either way just luck

I think we have it, but only in certain moments, we can switch it on and off at will, I mean most of our lives we do things automatically, we don't really take often conscious decisions, we are on auto-pilot the majority of time.
I believe in the simulation theory - life is pretty much like a video game and our bodies here are simply avatars, while the real self is somewhere in another dimension, observing and occasionally manipulating the avatar. There is genre of games for example called "idle games" - they just play themselves and it's your choice on how much you choose to interfere. In an idle RPG you have a character that starts with certain stats, then he goes to do quests, battle monsters, he levels up, etc., you can steer him in the direction you want and influence his destiny or you can simply let him do his thing or a mix of both, it's your choice, real life is kinda like that too...

Yeah we have free will.

You choose how you react to things and stimuli. That's the power of Man.

So it’s an infinite cycles of chads becoming incels becoming chads? What about the animals like ants or rabbits?

I’m denying we have the experience of making choices but I would say even that I just the same old illusion.

That doesn’t mean we have free will. You’re just choosing not to define the term.

Nothing would be different if we had magical libertarian free will because it doesn’t exist and is incomprehensible and no such possibility can be imagined.

The same way we can say a square circle but can’t imagine one.

wrong word but basically benefits you to nothing and theres not much to be debated

you will still feel like you have some free will and can impact your life by ur decisions, but in the greater picture you can notice the non existence of "control"

things are how they are, just figure the definitions u both agree on with the other member and thats enough, the debate often comes from ppl not using the same definition of "free will". imo

The biggest benefit is I don’t resent people for things they have done to me and no longer regret my decisions but I agree after those two aspects there’s not much more to be gained from this topic.

It’s just a very persistent feeling so it’s hard to internalize the notion that it’s all smoke and mirrors.

I wanted to know if there was more to the topic than I thought so I figured I’d ask.

My thoughts on it are as follows.

Human makes a decision, after that decision is made, God is able to see all other possible realities after that decision, but he cannot know the exact decision you are going to make.

He can make a pretty good guess but it is not definite. As I said though, once that decision is made he is now able to see all possible realities after that decision from something as simple as what you want to eat to deciding to put your left shoe on before your right.

What brought you to religion?

So the other dimension being has free will?
Probably, it's hard to tell if we don't know the nature of the base reality. Here in our dimension, the free will can hide for example in the random quantum fluctuations that appear in the brain - they can be truly random, or they can be influenced by an external force from another dimension where your real consciousness is, but it would almost impossible to tell when each phenomenon happens, especially since when you make a quantum measurement you already influence the result - the brain basically contains tiny black boxes with quantum encryption where we can't know what exactly is happening, no matter how much our knowledge about the brain will advance.

Only some people truly have free will, mostly dark triad psycopaths and the untouchable rich

Most good little goys are sheep

Free will =/= free thought, dont think just cause you mentally arent like the masses that you have free will

Karma certainly doesn’t exist because morality is subjective.

Now you need to give evidence a god even exists bro. Otherwise it’s all just speculation.

Hard to say. I like to believe it exist, but decision-making exists, you can’t go back and undo something because time only goes forward, there’s also many other possibilites to a decision and you can only choose one, your decision-making is also purely based on your personality and interests. So it does exist, but at the same time it doesn’t.

think at a given moment, when you did something, do you think given all the same parameters you could have done an other thing that you did. If yes your decision making is chaotic and random, if not you had no choice but to do what you did then there is no free will.

I’m familiar with both Schopenhauer and Spinoza’s ideas on free will

How does it exist if your personality and interests are determined by the shape and structure of your brain/physiology? You control neither of those things.
