What can be the consequences of lightly biting on my incisors?

I have a nice case of a slight deep bite, plus a prominent alveolar process which causes my chin to look worse when I keep my teeth in their default. I’ve noticed that lightly biting on my incisors fixes the problem. Is it safe?

Overtime it may wear down your incisors. The dentist told me I had worn down tooth from chewing. He thought I was a teeth grinder.
