Brutal shit. The mewing cope never ends. Sutures of the maxilla close at 15-16.

uh oh. I'm 15, nearly 16
Still, nothing wrong with getting a palatial expander if you need it.
I'm not saying don't do anything - just adjust your expectations accordingly.

how can I convince my parents to get a palate expander
If you have airway problems but depending on what your parents are like, they may well easily laugh in your face.

start barking then

I don't have airway problems but I can probably say that to get to a dentist. But it'd be problematic if they full open my mouth and rearrange me for something that doesn't exist.

I guess I can say my tongue is cutting into my teeth and hope for the best

Do you have any crowding, crooked teeth or stuff like that? These types of problems are most often caused by a narrow pallate, and you expanders are sometimes used in order to make space, then they give you braces afterwards.

Problem is that if your lower jaw is narrow as your pallate, after expansion your bite will be messed up, as your teeth won't align anymore.
That would mean that you would also need to expand the lower, which is easier said than done, as in order to do that they would need to surgically cut your lower jaw in half in order for you to expand, and from what I have heard its not easy to find someone who would be willing to do this.

Truthfully the only person who could answer all your questions would be your ortho. Good luck.
