what causes wavy hair to become straighter?

i used to have wavy hair (type 2a or something) but now its straighter. my hair has thinned a bit in the last 4 years. could that be the reason?

The ends used to be curled and near the ends were not straight
 
Maybe you use a shampoo a lot
