yes, it's better. Bitcoin is valuable because it's the first crypto, secure, lots of people want it to be valuable, and it's trusted. ETH is only valuable to other eth junkies, it does have some use but it's limited to it's own environment. XRP (if adopted) will be the global medium for transactions and it's cheap, so buying some wouldn't hurt your pockets.
As far as I can tell there's no logic to the small gains and losses of crypto, maybe one or two coins will actually become the most used in the future and thus become more valued but right now it seems entirely speculative
