That guy you posted is a ginger, which is responsible for his pink pigmentation. Mohammed was described as pale, but what's pale for the Arabian peninsula isn't necessarily the color of a tomato. I'm guessing that drawing was somewhere around his skin color. You can still be nonwhite sand and pale; there are plenty of examples.
