Lately the Looksmaxing section has basically become a wasteland of low-effort threads and spam. Most of the actual high-value users are just rotting in offtopic because finding a good guide is like finding a needle in a haystack now. Aside from BOTB, almost every high-value thread just gets buried in the noise. We need a new section that actually filters for good quality threads.

My proposal:

Add a section called, The Vault or Quality Picks, it could be any fitting name in general.

1. โœฆ ๐‘ฌ๐’๐’•๐’“๐’š ๐’‡๐’†๐’† โœฆ

For users to submit a thread for consideration to this new section, they cant just post random shit, they must stake their own forum rep (reputation).

Requirements: Users must have a minimum account age, Eg, 2 months to post in this section.

The risk, so there is no low effort threads submitted: Submitting a draft "locks up" 200 reputation points

โ•ฐโ”€โžค Why we do this: Bots and low-effort trolls do not have the reputation required to post, lets say even if an user bought an account, they will rapidly lose their ability to post if their threads are garbage.

When a user stakes their reps, the thread DOES NOT GO TO THE MODERATORS. It goes to a temporary sub-forum, called Votings or smth.

  • The thread remains here for a set time limit (e.g., 72 hours).
  • During this time, the community reviews the thread.
3.โ—† Who can vote? โ—†

Users who meet specific criteria, users with 8+ months on the website, 600 + posts, and a postive rep ratio.

The people who can vote, have a poll attached to the thread, with: Accept or reject

If you implement this you could also optionally hide the profile/username/rep & posts of the person who created the thread to avoid bias.

4. Punishment & Reward

At the end of the 72 hours, the system automatically tallies the weighted votes.

If the thread meets the threshold 70 + acceptance, via poll, the OP gets their 200 reputation back + an extra 50 or smth.

If it doesnt meet the threshold: The user, Cannot post in the section again for 30 days.

The Benefits:

1. Zero Work For Staff Members

2. Stops people from rotting in offtopic

  • Hmm...

The biggest issue is reputation-rich users become gatekeepers.

If voting power belongs exclusively to older, established users, the section can become biased towards friends and almost political.
A genuinely useful guide could be rejected simply because voters dislike the author.

You partially address this by hiding usernames, which is a very good idea.
