What do you do if your palate is decent, your teeth are straight but you want to decrease smile corridors?

Smile corridors are basically the distance between the teeth and the cheeks. I always read here that palatal expansion should only be used for functionality, not cosmetics. But why?

because most surgical procedures are used for people with serious functional problems, only with blackpilled doctors can you obtain these procedures

Its the device that cut your palate. (unless its surgicaly assisted)
