Yea cause it's considered heretic by catholic Church. For the same reason protestantism is also considered heretic. The catholic Church back then persecuted anyone that didn't follow their laws 100%. Dosnt mean protestants aren't Christians. Or don't have claim over Christianity. They come from the same sources.
