What do you think about girls w/ multiple piercings?

Never even liked earrings. I think its mutilation. Now people are getting it all over their ear, their nose, belly button, chest, forehead, literally everywhere. A 12 year old girl I know just got a nose piercing last week and I'm damn sure she hasn't even got a boyfriend yet. Why are people doing this?
