You are born, go to school, kiss a girl, go to work, find and take a girl home to fuck her every day, eventually have 2-3 children with her, retire from work, die..

Before, in 99% of human history prior to modern medicine, death came much sooner, so you only got to live to be 30-40 years old, the age at which you hoped to have those 2-3 children already, and you didn't even get to enjoy your retirement..

So yeah, life is pretty simple and straightforward, it goes by very quickly, especially if you're unlucky enough to die at 40-50 from some heart/liver/lung disease, etc.
