What do you think the mindset is of people who commit mass shootings/high-profile assassinations?

Why did the Kirk shooter go to such lengths to conceal their identity (Sunglasses, cap, hides weapon, etc) but not have an escape plan in place? Why not book a flight that leaves 1-2 hours after the shooting and hide out in Thailand or something on a fake ID? Do these people really think they can stay hidden in America when every law enforcement agency and bounty hunter is after them?

Almoat all serial killers I've read about always a strong motivation and genuinely believe they are doing God's work by eliminating people they deem unworthy.Gary Ridgway (Green River Killer) targeted sex workers to "clean up the streets." David Berkowitz (Son of Sam) said a demon-possessed dog told him to kill. Joseph Paul Franklin (white supremacist killer) framed their murders as "necessary" or "moral".


Then the hedonistic killers like the ones you mentioned (Bundy, Dahmer, Ramirez, Gacy). Then there arw Power/Control Killers. They kill for the satisfaction of having control over life and death. Dennis Rader (BTK) fits here.

Almost all serial killers have some internal framework or philosophy that justifies the killing to themselves even if it's absurd, delusional or morally bankrupt. What's interesting is how these killers construct entire ideologies to sustain their actions blending religion politics or personal trauma into a justification system

Normal people feel remorse, evil people get satisfaction but serial killers think they are doing the world a favour by taking people out.

Serial killers are born the way they are and they use that whole cleaning up the world stuff as some sort of excuse. They have brains that are impaired differently from others where they get a massive high from killing, raping, etc. That’s why they can never stop doing it and eventually get caught. People always say they are the way they are is because of child hood abuse, drugs, and other stuff but those things just add fuel to the fire. But even most or at least some serial killers don’t even know why they do what they do and can’t explain it.
