Hey, Im struggling with puffy eyelids atm and cant find a way to fix them nor identify what causes it.

Heres what I tried so far:

Tried antihistamines since Im allergic to dust mites and cat hair and exposed to both-> didnt help

Tried coffeine serum->didnt help

Cool spoons->didnt even fucking help for a few minutes

Tried sleeping more-> didnt help

Drinking more->didnt help

I noticed whenever I stop minoxidil it gets better (5%foam once daily on my scalp). I also noticed that it was worse when I used topical minoxidil on my eyebrows.

I suspect its mostly the minoxidil, liver and kidneys are healthy and I dont have any other swelling or bloat going on. That being said I did have trouble with that even before minoxidil, just not as strong as it is now.

I was also diagnosed with Hashimitos (autoimmune disorder that attacks the thyriod gland) a couple of years ago but most other doctors said I didnt have it so I stopped taking Thyroxine and now my TSH always hovers around 2.5-3.

Sodium intake is 2400 mg and Potassium 2440 mg.

In the morning the swelling is the worst and I feel uncomfortable pressure around my eyes.

Would be thankful for every advice here.

maybe you just have puffy eyelids genetics

Unlikely, I've seen older pictures where I didn't have that issue. Also the uncomfortable pressure feeling around my eyes is also something that I didnt have previously in my life.

I assume bad fat distribution could case that or lack of sleep.

I think high cortisol could cause that (inflammation) , but not 100% certain,

since it gets worse with minox maybe cut that out? u will have to look at the benefits vs the side effects of using minox and see if u would rather grow ur eyebrows or have puffy eyelids.

Main thing for eyelids is sleep so try just keep that good, wake up and go to sleep same time everyday and make sure u get good deep sleep not shitty waking up mid night.

I did in fact have elevated cortisol one time when I did a full hormone panel but it was barely above reference range so I dont think it was abnormal.

However, I had an ACTH of 70(?) once I think and normal range was up to 54 or 60 if I recall correctly. But even this is not that bad, but maybe I should test it again just to be safe.

normal range is bs, cortisol kill your thyroid, u should have as little as possible. not 0 tho.

Yeah you are right, my sleep was very bad the last months because of school and I had to wake up very early in the morning because I needed two hours to get to the school.

So I was extremely sleep deprived, but during holidays I slept enough and still had some puffiness. That being said, I often wake up after 6 hours of sleep and have trouble going back to sleep and sometimes I hallucinate but my body doesnt fall asleep, its very odd. Might be stress related.

Im planning on getting blood tested too, since I kinda feel like I have rather diffuse hair thinning than androgenic hair loss. Minoxidil is the only thing that actually gives me regrowth so Im scared of losing hair again when stopping it.

Maybe I also use too much on my scalp and the absorbed systemic amount of minoxidil is enough to cause me this eyelid puffiness.
