Do braces give the same effect as thumb pulling or do they only fix recessed chins , or do they just recess you more ?

they will likely not ascend you unless you have bad teeth which is a big falio

Only braces literally just makes your teeth fit in your jaw
Thumbpulling (if you manage to split the suture) expands the jaw so the teeth eventually align in with the new space

Bracces recess you by causing permanent root damage and applying unnatural pressure to teeth, which cause root resorption and your jawbones to shrink. Better option is thumbpulling/other forms of palatal expansion.
