In my family we barely talk to each other and when we do it's surface level stuff. There are no real connections and everyone just does their own thing.

I often wonder what it feels like to just have your family there no matter what. Even if you were to screw up astronomically, you'd have people to fall back on. People you could always rely on and that you could always hit up without awkward vibes.

Like I never vent anywhere except here and even that I keep to a minimum because it feels beta.

It feels weird when I hear people say things like 'family is all you've got in the end' when it doesn't apply to me. It basically implies that you really have nothing.

fuck knows

Interacting with your family is a major cope once you're a young adult. Like 90% of parents, they'll just screw you over. I wish I was in your position where you guys barely talk to each other and just mind your own business. In my family there is practically no privacy and freedom, it is just painfully annoying. If you screw up big time, then you should be able to handle yourself on your own as a real man.
