What does this thing do + appliance instantly fixed overbite?

(That picture is a different appliance thing) I got a MARA appliance and it fixed my overbite. It forces me to perma-jut. I think it’ll be a while until my back molars touch, and also having that metal in your mouth is genuinely a massive annoyance. Wish I never mouthbreathed like an idiot as a kid.

Now aside from an overbite, they put in some Transpalatal Arch (it’s the picture thing). I was expecting a palate expander because I need one and could literally ascend in 6 months with that. Instead I get whatever this is. I have no idea what it does. Picture attached. Does anybody have any idea what the hell this things purpose is??? I feel some pain on those molars and my facial bones feel a little bit of pressure but I can’t physically understand how this thing is supposed to expand my palate.

Or worst case it’s supposed to restrict molar movement. Would that also restrict any palate expansion? Then I’d have to cut it to thumbpull.

16 not sure how effective the appliance is for adults. I think an Orthotropics appliance is always the best.

Yes it does mess up the maxilla ngl just get like some appliance by Mike Mew
I just got the appliance yesterday, it’s a pain.

all these appliances do is force you to perma-jut till it becomes your natural condyle position and doesnt actually address the recession at all

I've never been recessed really. But there is no way to fix an overbite properly as of now except some Mike Mew appliance which I can't get.

So this forces to to perma jut till your lower teeth touch your uoper teeth when biting or slightly beofre lower teeth while biting?
