so I have an overbite and I want to fix it with elastics, since now I thought and I still think and i'm like 90% sure about that I need to get my lower jaw forward in order to look better and i'm gonna tell the dentist that i want to get the lower jaw lower forward by like 90% and the upper part as little as possible. so there's a video and pictures of me while I fully bring the lower part symmetrical with the upper part and I find it perfect the way my jaw looks this way, I have to mention that I feel no discomfort at all doing this by myself (bringing the lower part symmetrical with the upper part) and i'm pretty sure that I can do this with elastics as well, I even asked chatgpt and he said the things that i'm saying rn but now comes the reason why i've made this thread: Could i end up being recessed? I myself find it perfect looking(my front its too wide and if i will lower my jaw it's gonna be perfect) but I've read the reply of this guy on this thread: https://looksmax.org/threads/different-elastics.1508340/
*pretty sure class 2 elastics push upper jaw backwards and lower jaw forwards (recesses u) while class 3 elastics push lower jaw backwards and upper jaw forwards (gives u a bit of forward growth*
I think that reply it's an subjective one, not applying to everyone but I just want to make sure, what do you guys think?

I HAVE AN OVERBITE AND I WANT TO BRING MY JAW FORWARD BY 90% AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES/VIDEO. WHAT DO YOU THINK, COULD I END UP RECESSED? I MYSELF FIND IT PERFECT LOOKING BUT A REPLY FROM ANOTHER THREAD SCARED ME TO DEATH
*the picture in the green shirt its my jawline rn with an overbite, without forcing the lower part to the upper part and i've inserted a picture of my front too*

yea but if i get elastics to help with that i wont need to perma clench because the elastics will make the muscle stay this way permanently , making it a normal pose. i'm actually so excited about that because i find it very ascending

and I tell her that i want to bring the lower jaw as forward as possible, right?
If elastics were bring the jaw as forward as possible that would make underbite and also if ur over 18 its hard to change the jaw position.

i mean bring the jaw as forward as possible with fixing the overbite, not making it an underbite ofc, just as I do in the video. i'm 19 rn and i'm 95% sure that elastics will do just what I do because it's only about the muscle in my case, elastics will make that muscle stay in this way on a natural thing, that's all

do you have overbite on ur teeths or just the chin is recessed?

i'm not sure about that but I can tell you that in this clip I bring my lower jaw forward(i hope you can make a conclusion based on that), I do not work with the teeths at all so I would say that my chin is slightly recessed.

if your dental occlusion is ideal that means ur overbite causes because bones recessed.

but if it was a bone thing I'm pretty sure I couldn't have fixed it myself without having any hard time(not feeling any pain or discomfort) doing it just by aligning the lower jaw with the upper jaw myself. anyway, I got my answer based on this entire thread and i'm pretty sure that elastics will ascend me insane

and no, my dental occlusion its not ideal, it's pretty chopped, that's why i will get braces
edit: its not chopped but its not ideal either, its mid.

you

have overbite just like me , i also perma jutt like you are saying

my own personal opinion - elastics dont work. came back to my orthodontist after a while and they told me something like "wow your progress with the elastics is great, we'll give you some more and you only have to wear them nightly" which eventually shifted into "you don't have to wear them anymore". as long as you are wearing your braces/invisalign and they're working the way they should be, you're set

HOWEVER what may be also true is that it works not to use them for certain people, and for others you might need it. dunno, maybe it really depends on the movement of your bones, so i'd say keep using them consistently, i dont really know because again it depends on you

quick question btw unrelated, do you think getting stoned has made your critical thinking/memory diminish overtime or nah

Ye but I have drug induced psychosis and schizophrenia so it doesn’t make a difference but in my earlier years it messed me up

i just went to an orthodontist and she told me that she uses elastics to shift the lower jaw forward only for bad cases and copes like this, i will search another orthodontist

yeah and "bad cases" are when your teeth are all fucked up and are growing from like different gums, freaky shit like that (although im overexaggerating a bit)
