if you don't know anything about cars and just want to drive, you're better off not tuning cause you don't need it. Tunes are really for those who can handle 400-500+ HP and usually race/track that shit or do a lot of spirited driving.

If you are willing to learn and do ur homework though, (my personal recommendation) best platform for your dollar that doesn't look dated would be like a 2009-2012 R35 GTR. You can get slightly newer too if you can afford that but honestly the differences are minimal. Plus its easy to make lotsa horsepower and noise and make it look modern. I seldom ever hear anyone have anything bad to say about those cars. It's a V6 but a turbocharger kit really makes it shine.

If you're just talking about an exhaust swap/downpipe + tune then you could go the basic route and get a M beemer, I'd prefer a Porsche (start with a Cayman) though. Merc's are cool but pretty much any German is a money pit. Audi R8s are dope asf too if you like the idea of a V10 and I've seen people daily those.

If you want American muscle, start off with a Mustang GT 5.0, easy platform to work with and make hella power and there's several ways you could go about doing a build. Most of these specs like the Dark Horse are way overpriced and you could get the same performance/feel with your own modding for far less.
