Surely I can't be the only one who has noticed the decrease in overall seriousness in the last few months? I have lurked here since summer 2019 and joined in december. It feels like the site was more austere a few months ago. Not that I have contributed with anything high iq, just noticed this.

It's a lot of factors but for now I'll just point out a few.
1. Looksmaxxing is very money and inhibition gated. A lot of improvements are locked behind expensive procedures which you need to be dedicated to do. @Gudru is maybe the best example of this, he knows what he needs to do and now his serious posts are more about finding ways to get the needed funds.
2. Looksmaxxing is "off label", no one out there is really actively researching ways to make a human look better, aside from people working on hair loss, and Stroma I guess. So we don't have much material to pull from, to find looksmaxxing applications in recent studies you have to be intelligent enough to be scientifically informed and connect dots.
3. Vicious spiral. I think @Golden Glass may have pointed this out. Basically once good posters leave and value drops from the community high quality posters are only more discouraged from joining and sharing their ideas. The best counter to this that the Mod team has found is punishing shitposting in the looksmaxxing section and using Offtopic as a kind of containment zone, but that's not going to do the trick by itself. Quality will probably only continue to dip.

The only useful new information is people experimenting with different combos of drugs/surgeries/ routines ect..., which is usally high IQ thread material
