Of course. Read old late 19'th century romance novels, authored by both men and women, and you'll see how people just naturally understood this in times of old.

It was still widely understood in more recent times too. If you watch old James Bond films or the original Indian Jones movies they actually depected men with persalities, attitudes, and a way of behaving towards women that actually attracts them. People say times have changed but they really haven't in that regard. They cannot change because women will always be women.
