Just announce to the police you're going to grab an ID for safety, but if you go to grab something directly after they ask for ID it's unlikely you would be shot. But if they have gun in hand or are on edge and tell you not to grab something and you go to grab something high chance you get shot. On police activity channel you can find some videos
