Covid will set up the police state but that alone and by itself won't be good enough. Eventually in many countries people will become angry enough that they will start supporting radical anti-establishment movements and no amount of deplatforming by the elites will be able to prevent them from gaining steam.
That means, that the only plausible possibility for the elites to retain power, is to simply get rid of voting. Problem is, half-assed measures won't be enough to save them. Oh sure, they can try to use "hate speech" laws, or "anti-extremist" laws, to prevent certain people from running for offices. But that will only be good enough for so long. If it gets to a point where there are just tons of radical people everywhere and people willing to vote for them, then the elite's only remaining recourse will be to simply drop any pretense of democracy and just straight up install a military dictatorship. Something, which they ALSO cannot do long-term, even with the Covid scare, without risking massive social unrest.
I know everybody keeps talking about "muh NWO" and stuff, but tbh I'm kinda struggling to see how the elites intend to keep this all going on forever. If they just brute-force their way into power under some questionable pretenses then any authoritarian regime that emerged from that would have extremely low approval.
That said, my prediction is that they will use Covid and ever harsher lockdowns as an excuse to "delay" elections, and then they will just do it again, and again, and again etc until they have a global government and global military and just don't give af and then just do whatever the fuck they want.
