like in the future if they make some life-pod that you could go in and hook up your brain so you could dream forever, and the pod sustains you, though technically you're wasting your life, and also in the pod you get to choose your dream and what happens and maybe have online dreaming where you can interact with others would you do that I definitely would

I already do this its extremely fun

search up on "Lucid Dreaming"

i dont think i would, and many other also wouldn't

there seems to be an inherent value in the *reality* of things - if something is real we automatically judge it as higher-value, no matter how identical the subjective experience would be if it weren't real

But this is the perfect coping mechanism, a dream is as real as something gets, often people like a dream so much they don't want to wake up from it. It would just be like playing upgraded minecraft 24/7

Yes been doing for years now

How is it difficult? it's literally simple, as long as you remember your dreams you actually made it through the "hard" part

a dream isn't real considering its a false representation of the outside world

So should I just keep a dream journal then? This seems like the most realistic and easiest way i never bothered though

I watched a buncha random videos, some told me to count my fingers

Some told me to set a alarm at 1:00 am or something and wake up for exactly 1 minute and go back to sleep while keeping track of a "mark" or something and i would go into a semi-sleep state where i start hallucinating but i would have to keep focus

I tried this and obviously it didn't fucking work so i stopped trying

While i’m in the dream do I get to choose what happens or would i be unknowing to the fact that it is a dream, and im just living a great life ?

I would love to do it if i didn’t know i was dreaming and perceived it as reality, but wouldn’t do it if i knew none of it was “real”

Hmm interesting I would still do it if i knew it was fake, maybe not if I was alone though, humans are not meant to be alone

Well it isn't real of course, i meant it is the closest you can get (compared to vr simulations or something), but it is as complex as reality cuz your brain is simulating it, your brain is also the same thing that processes reality

There's many methods but most importantly you need to remember you're dreaming

The counting fingers is called a "Reality check" ie checks you do IRL every now and then so you do it in a dream and know it's a dream (ie you check for 5 fingers and in ur dream its 4. automatically being aware its a dream and start to control it"

The alarm method is called WTB (Wake up back to sleep). you basically wake up before your REM stage (the sleep stage where dream happens) and you go back to sleep while your consciousness is active, you'll directly go to the dream and control it .

You probably know of "Sleep paralysis" this is near the final stage before the dream starts. WTB is a very direct and easy method but you can use the "intention" method. where you basically intend to wake up on the middle of the dream

there are other methods, but it all depends in which ones work for you. They all work if you do believe they'll work it's your brain after all.

You do need to try until you succeed. Trust me after you do it and see the possibilities, you won't want to waste 8 hours+ of your life doing nothing, but will actually look forward to sleep as you can do ANYTHING and the feelings are 1000x better than IRL. This is not an exaggeration. Yes it has some learning curve, yes you'll likely fail before you can succeed. But it is worth it.

I aint doing wtb i'm too dumb to understand this shit but counting fingers i'll try, also what do you think about dream journals

They're not complex methods bro

WTB is basically setting ur alarm clock 4 hours after you sleep and just going to bathroom. going back to bed and playing dead fish (not moving but keeping ur brain active by doing countdowns or something) until you get sleep paralysis > hallucnation > dream start. That's it. you get into a dream and control it

Dream journals are important if you have shit dream recall (means you don't remember your dreams). It's good to have but not necessary if you remember your dreams

good question. dreams are obviously less "real" than real life but you cant really regret dreaming while youre doing it so i might actually
